Before joining Total, I worked at another
oil and gas company as a contracted employee.
I joined Total as a Planning Engineer with
a permanent employee status, five years
ago. I found the vacant position’s
ad by visiting Total’s Internet and
I submitted my C.V. to the Human Resources
Department, as well as to the Development
Division. I heard back from them two weeks
later and was hired after several job interviews.
I used to work for the Development Division,
back then. I was responsible for maintaining
the planning schedule and reporting the
progresses of the different project’s
activities, which were implemented by the
Project Division. The Development Division
handled building projects in some of Total’s
Fields like for example the Gas Processing
Platform or the GTS platform which are located
in the province of East Kalimantan.
Gas data analysis.
In December 2002, I was transferred to the
Gas Division as a Gas Marketing Analyst.
I basically keep track of all the domestic
and international data concerning the gas
activities, for instance in Korea, Japan
and Taiwan. I also analyse the data of our
competitors worldwide, as well as other
gas producers in Indonesia.
I provide support to the Gas Co-ordinator
during the negotiation processes. For example,
I provide the historical data and current
trends in order to determine the gas price.
I collect the facts from a number of sources,
like: the Gas Revenue Department, Government
information sites and related websites,
among others.
Career Options.
I have been well accepted and well integrated
within Total that employs around 300 people
in Jakarta.
I am well aware of the activities of the
Group around the world through the internal
magazine that is published on a regular
basis, the international communication sessions
that take place twice a year and through
the Group’s Intranet.
Total offers possibilities to travel and
to work abroad to its employees. For the
time being, I am not too eager to take the
opportunity to move elsewhere, because there
are many concerns regarding my husband’s
carrier and the education of my children.
However, if in the future a possibility
to be transferred to Paris or other subsidiaries
became available, I may consider it. I am
presently learning French through a course
conducted by the company.

I would certainly recommend Total to young
people looking for a job in the industry
since Total encourages its employees to
progress in their jobs and to move to higher
and different positions within the Group.
