What I Do for Lilly
I provide engineering support for BHI Manufacturing.
What I Like Best
About Working at Lilly
I like that I can act with technical excellence
without being asked to compromise my personal
integrity. Quality is paramount. For example,
if I come across some data that isn’t
all positive, I’m not expected to
gloss over it, I just try to fix the problem.
Challenges or Struggles
I think the challenges have been coming
in as a new employee with lot of information
to learn. I’m learning what information
to take on first and how to quickly assimilate
that information.
Favorite Pastimes
Singing, writing songs, church activities
(I’m also a preacher), reading, writing
poetry and essays, bowling. I also want
to take up piano and guitar.
How I Would Describe
My Transition from Campus to Lilly
For me, the transition was pretty easy.
I had four internships at Lilly before graduating.
Moving here was easy. I knew people here.
Relocation services were very helpful as
well. I interned in different areas, so
I didn’t know what to expect in my
current role. When I got here, the people
were very supportive. I wasn’t just
thrown into the process, there was plenty
of training and people to mentor me and
answer questions. No one expected me to
know everything right away. They wanted
to help me get up to speed so I could contribute.
A Special Story
in which Lilly Had a Direct Impact on Me
My godson is on Straterra®. During my
internship last summer and this summer,
his mom was asking me about medicines for
her son, and she asked about the drug. After
learning more, she decided to put him on
the medication. I’ve watched him on
it, and I can definitely tell when he has
had his medicine. He’s not as groggy,
hyper, or unstable when he has had it.
I'm Staying with
Lilly Because...
I find within the company I can integrate
a lot of what I like—biology, chemistry
and engineering. They’re combined
with the people interaction I enjoy and
the opportunity for advancement and to move
toward research. There are good opportunities
for personal growth and to get additional
education.
