What
I Do for Lilly
Global Brand planning and strategic issues
management for all indications of Cymbalta®.
Career Path
I started as in intern in finance during
my undergraduate training. My first full-time
position was in finance. Then I went into
business development, strategic asset management,
the Lilly Centre for Women's Health, and
finally several marketing roles.
How Lilly Has Helped
Me Develop in My Career
By having a culture where individuals take
interest in other individuals. I received
sponsored education leave—Lilly paid
for me to go to Stanford to obtain my MBA,
and I took a two-year leave. Leadership
development programs have also been helpful.
Challenges or Struggles
It was a challenging time when I wanted
to go to MBA school. I brought it up to
my supervisor, who was very supportive.
They paid 60% of tuition and books.
A Special Story
in Which Lilly Had a Direct Impact on Me
I was on bed rest during my pregnancy, and
it was my first year back after graduate
school. Not only was the company completely
supportive, but when I was trying to work
from my bed, my AA had access to my email
and voice mail blocked so I wouldn't work.
She and my team were worried enough about
me taking care of myself that they shut
it down. They visited me in the hospital
and at home and took on my workload without
letting me argue. They cared more about
me and my child than about the work getting
done. The entire team was behind me. I remain
as close to my team as with my own family
and friends.
I'm Staying with
Lilly Because...
The amount of personal equity I've invested
in the company—blood, sweat, tears,
relationships, and loyalty. It would be
hard for another company to offer something
that would outweigh these intangibles.
Benefits of Working
at Lilly that I Didn't Know Include
Maternity leave includes the month off before
the due date and 12 weeks after delivery.
In addition, mothers can choose to take
a 1-3 year leave from their job after having
a child.
