What
I Do for Lilly
I manage account executives who ensure access
for Zyprexa®, Strattera®, Cymbalta®
and Symbyax® in the U.S. Medicaid System.
What I Like Best
About Working at Lilly
Lilly is full of amazing people who serve
to motivate you in a variety of ways. With
experts from every field, one can never
run out of resources. Everyone is accessible,
and the hierarchy is not palpable. Having
worked in sales, strategy and now as a regional
manager in a specialty business unit, I
have had first-hand experience in building
customer relationships, delivering relevant
strategy, and in implementing that strategy
over time. At each point, I was able to
infuse my creative and personal touch to
make the job relevant to me. I didn't even
ask to be able to do that—it was expected
and encouraged.

The Reason I Came
to Lilly
Lilly was the quickest to respond to my
questions when I was debating working in
sales or going back to school. I had access
to managers other sales representatives
and HR recruiters throughout the interview
process who helped me reach one of the most
important decisions of my life. They truly
took part in helping me map out my future
after pharmacy school.
What I Have Learned
at Lilly
I have learned how to convey my thoughts
more clearly since beginning at Lilly. Although
this may seem rudimentary – it is
a vital skill. Our sales training is so
strong that no one is better prepared in
front of the customer than I am. We understand
how to cultivate our talking skills, ask
the right questions and convey the information
that is most important to the customer.
Even during budget customers, I have access
to so many resources. I can also help people
understand exactly where strategy has come
from and the basis of decisions that are
made.
If I Could Do Anything
as a Career
I'd like to run the U.S. Affiliate. That
is my goal.
The Thing(s) that Makes Me Get Up in the
Morning
The feeling of responsibility motivates
me, knowing the impact I have on a daily
basis. In my position, I have enough responsibility
to make a change in my customers' lives
as well as in the Lilly organization. It
helps me make sense of why I'm doing things.
I'm Staying with
Lilly Because...
Lilly is a place where cutting edge research,
technology, marketing and sales are complemented
by a sense of community, service, and devotion
to the betterment of society. Opinions here
are evaluated on the basis of content rather
than status - allowing for a mixing of ideas
and people. Lilly also supports its employees
in personal success in terms of educational
assistance, a comprehensive benefit package
as well as strong support for work-family
balance. Personally, I have been fortunate
to have extraordinary managers who have
been excellent mentors and leaders at each
stage of my career - and have helped guide
my career through Lilly even beyond our
formal reporting structure. Lilly has helped
me develop beyond expectations I had since
I began as a sales representative - why
wouldn't I want to stay ?
